In an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) of Chennai police arrested two individuals from Kerala and Andhra Pradesh in connection with methamphetamine seizures made earlier this month within the Anna Salai and Nungambakkam police limits.
In a recent operation, Ramchandar (34) from Villupuram, Karthik Raja (27) from Dindigul, and Mohammed Sadiq (24) from Nagapattinam were arrested in Nungambakkam after police seized six grams of methamphetamine from them. Based on their statements, K. Udhayakumar from Andhra Pradesh was also apprehended in connection with the case.
Earlier this month, a joint operation between the ANIU and Anna Salai police led to the arrest of five youths for possessing drugs. Acting on a tip-off, authorities seized 23 grams of methamphetamine, 5.3 grams of OG Ganja, 2.6 grams of MDMA tablets, and Rs1.67 lakh in cash from the suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as R. Vigneshwaran (24) from Velachery, S. Balachandran (28) from Taramani, S. Yuvaraj (25) from Kolathur, J. Suhail (24) from Perambur, and M. Praveen (31) from Ambattur.
Based on their information, R. Nikkil (34) from Malappuram, Kerala, was also arrested. Both Udhayakumar and Nikkil were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
The Chennai police continue their strict action against narcotics-related offenses, ensuring that the crackdown on drug trafficking remains a top priority.
