In a major crackdown on narcotics, Chennai police arrested eight individuals, including Tamil and Malayalam actress Anju Krishna and Tamil assistant director Vincy Nivetha, during an operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) on Thursday.
The investigation began with the arrest of Vigneshwaran (33) from Nesapakkam, who revealed that he had procured drugs from Venkatesh Kumar (31) of Kovur. Acting on this information, police set up a decoy operation near Valasaravakkam, intercepting Venkatesh Kumar and several associates.
Others arrested include Karthik Raja (31) of Kovur, Yashwanth (25) of Kattupakkam, Sriram (33) of West Mambalam, and Alvibinsha (27) of Kovilambakkam.
Seized items include:
6 grams of methamphetamine
15 grams of ganja and 7 grams of OG ganja
One LSD stamp
One smoking bong
Nine mobile phones
All arrested individuals and the seized items have been handed over to the Valasaravakkam police for further investigation.
