Bandepalya police have arrested 45-year-old Nigerian national Chebugo Gadwin for allegedly selling narcotic substances, including MDMA tablets and cocaine powder, near Somasandrapalya Lake in Bengaluru.
Acting on a tip-off received on October 30, police conducted a raid and apprehended Gadwin. During interrogation, he revealed that he arrived in India in 2018 on a business visa and initially worked in the garment trade in Delhi. Around three months ago, he moved to Bengaluru and began living with an acquaintance. Gadwin allegedly started buying MDMA and cocaine at low prices from an unidentified supplier and selling them at higher rates to college students and other customers.
Police seized 752 gm of MDMA tablets, 8 gm and 37 mg of cocaine powder, and a two-wheeler used in the trade, with a total estimated value of Rs75 lakh. Gadwin was produced before court on October 31 and remanded in judicial custody.
In a separate case, Malleswaram police arrested another individual for selling ganja and hashish (weed oil) near Jataka Stand on R.P. Road. The accused, a student from another state, confessed that financial difficulties led him to buy and sell the substances for profit. Authorities seized 360 gm of ganja, 1,250 ml of weed oil, a weighing machine, a mobile phone, and Rs1,500 cash, valued at Rs15.8 lakh.
