A mother from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, has been arrested after allegedly chaining her 11-year-old son to an oil tank in the basement while she was at work. The Lebanon County Regional Police Department responded to the distressing situation on Saturday night, following reports of a juvenile male being restrained with handcuffs.
Officers arrived at East Kercher Avenue around 9:55 p.m. and discovered that Chazzity Candelario had used handcuffs to secure her son to the oil tank in the basement. When questioned by police, Candelario reportedly stated that she “has a hard time controlling her children while she’s away at work.”
Candelario, 33, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, false imprisonment, and unlawful restraint. She is currently being held at Lebanon County Prison, with bail set at $100,000.
The case has sparked outrage, with authorities stressing the severity of the incident and the importance of protecting children from harm. Candelario’s actions are being thoroughly investigated.
