AKRON, Ohio — A 34-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after stabbing another woman with a box cutter following a fight on an Akron Metro bus.

Police responded around 3:45 p.m. to the 500 block of East Market Street, where they found a 23-year-old victim lying on the sidewalk near Summa Health Akron. A Summa Health Police Department officer was applying pressure to the victim’s wounds.

The altercation began on the bus, but escalated when 34-year-old Chavella Dorris followed the victim off the bus and stabbed her multiple times.

The victim was transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Dorris was arrested at the scene, and officers recovered the box cutter from her purse. She faces charges of felonious assault and is being held at Summit County Jail.
