MICRO, N.C. — Charles William Baker, 51, of Selma, was arrested on September 17 after breaking into a vacant business in Micro and causing extensive damage.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary report at Micro Summit Processors on South Railroad Street around 7:18 a.m. Authorities say Baker unlawfully entered the property and cut copper from refrigeration coolers, resulting in approximately $500,000 in damages.
In addition to the copper theft, Baker is accused of stealing a pump, pressure washer, and about 100 steel meat hooks. When deputies arrived, Baker tried to flee on foot but was quickly caught.
Baker faces felony charges including breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of burglary tools. He is being held on a $50,000 secured bond.
