Leonardtown, Md. – Charles Henry Thompson Jr., 30, and Mark Albert Fenwick Jr., 32, are facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, following an October 2024 shooting in Lexington Park, Maryland, that left a victim with three gunshot wounds. Both men were indicted in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court in November 2024 and are currently in custody awaiting trial.
The incident occurred on October 30, 2024, at an apartment complex on Valley Estates Drive, where deputies responded to reports of gunfire at around 8:14 PM. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses identified Thompson and Fenwick as the attackers, with Thompson allegedly firing the shots.
Surveillance footage revealed that Thompson initiated the assault by striking the victim before retrieving a firearm. As the victim tried to defend themselves and stand up, they were shot. Fenwick is said to have joined the attack, kicking and striking the victim, while Thompson allegedly stole the victim’s cellphone valued at $850. Investigators found two 9mm shell casings at the scene, and Thompson reportedly attempted to steal a vehicle while pointing a firearm at another individual before fleeing.
Fenwick was arrested on November 19, 2024, after a warrant for his arrest was issued. Thompson, who was also wanted for a separate child support case, was arrested on January 15, 2025, on multiple warrants, including those related to the shooting.
Thompson is facing charges of attempted first- and second-degree murder, armed robbery, assault, firearm offenses, and theft. Fenwick faces charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, and assault. If convicted of the attempted first-degree murder charge, both defendants face potential life imprisonment, while the armed robbery charge alone could result in up to 20 years in prison.
Thompson appeared for a bail review hearing on January 16, 2025, where Judge David W. Densford ordered him held without bond for the criminal charges. Thompson was released on personal recognizance for the child support case. Thompson’s trial is scheduled for June 2, 2025, and Fenwick’s jury trial is set for March 24, 2025.
