PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) — A former convenience store clerk has been arrested by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for his involvement in a lottery fraud scheme.

According to arrest warrants, 47-year-old Charles Ray Seawright stole multiple South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) scratch-off tickets while working at the Stop-A-Minit convenience store on Spark Lane in Pickens.

Investigators said Seawright then took the stolen tickets to the Hot Spot on Gentry Memorial Highway, where he redeemed them for cash payouts on July 26.

Seawright now faces two counts of intent to defraud and counterfeit game tickets. He was booked into the Pickens County Detention Center following his arrest.

Authorities confirmed that the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will prosecute the case.
