Hoschton Man Arrested in Smash-and-Grab Burglary Attempt at Local Business

Charles Andrew Kucera, 38, of Hoschton, was arrested on Thursday, August 8, 2025, after breaking into the Joint Smoke Shop and Lounge on Winder Highway. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at the business early Tuesday morning and discovered the front door glass shattered, with broken glass scattered outside.

Using video footage from the scene, investigators quickly identified Kucera as the suspect behind the incident. Authorities say Kucera deliberately smashed the door with the intent to commit theft. Fortunately, there is no current evidence that any items were stolen during the break-in.

Damage to the door is estimated to be more than $700. Deputies later located Kucera on Hamilton Mill Road and arrested him without incident. He is currently being held at the Hall County Jail on a felony charge without bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
