Charles Henry Williams, 63, of Trinity, Florida, has been arrested and charged following a five-month investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Cyber Crime Center. He faces one count of Theft by Deception and one count of Exploitation of an Elder Person.
The investigation began in April 2025 after the GBI was asked to look into an alleged online timeshare scam that targeted an elderly couple living in Newnan, Georgia. According to investigators, the couple lost more than $1 million over a period of four years as a result of the scheme.
The investigation revealed that Williams was allegedly behind the scam, which involved fraudulent offers related to timeshare properties. Authorities believe Williams misled victims into sending payments under false pretenses. Additional victims have also been identified during the course of the investigation.
Williams was arrested on August 29, 2025, in Trinity, Florida. He will face charges in Coweta County, Georgia.
The investigation was conducted in coordination with the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
The case remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full scope of the scam and identify any further victims.
