Evansville police arrested a man after he allegedly abandoned a scooter in the street, which led to a police investigation and the discovery of illegal drugs, authorities said.
Officers responded to the intersection of 9th and Ohio Avenue after receiving a report about a man who left a scooter in the roadway. The scooter reportedly stopped working and contributed to a minor traffic incident.
Police located Charles Hardy Jr., walking in the area, and conducted a pat-down search. During the search, officers reportedly found a clear glass pipe, which Hardy admitted he used for drug consumption.
Authorities said further investigation uncovered eight baggies of methamphetamine, two bags of a green leafy substance, and 29 additional clear plastic baggies differing from the meth containers.
Hardy was arrested and booked into Vanderburgh County Jail on multiple charges, including:
Possession of methamphetamine
Manufacture/dealing of methamphetamine
Possession of marijuana
Dealing marijuana
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Officials stated the investigation remains ongoing, and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
