Columbia Man Charged with Drug Trafficking After Traffic Stop
A Columbia man, Charles H. Walker Jr., 36, was arrested on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, after Boone County authorities discovered a large quantity of suspected fentanyl during a traffic stop.
According to the Columbia Police Department (CPD), officers observed a Kia Forte committing a traffic violation at the Rangeline Street roundabout. When they attempted a stop, the driver failed to pull over for several blocks, entering a neighborhood instead.
While trying to evade officers, the suspect reportedly threw three baggies out of the car window. The chase ended on Fairview Avenue, where the vehicle finally stopped, and Walker was taken into custody.
A search of Walker revealed a fourth baggie containing fentanyl concealed between his buttocks. The other three baggies were also recovered, with all four testing positive for fentanyl. The total weight of the drugs was 56.15 grams.
During a Miranda interview, Walker allegedly admitted he had spent $3,000 on the drugs with the intent to double his money through sales.
Walker now faces multiple charges, including:
First-Degree Drug Trafficking
Resisting Detention or a Stop
Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Felony Prosecution
He is currently being held without bond at the Boone County Jail.
