Bucks County, PA — Charles William Guthier, a 56-year-old man from Quakertown, has been sentenced to 11 to 24 years in state prison after pleading guilty to charges related to the dissemination of child sexual abuse material.
Guthier was convicted of disseminating child pornography, possession of child pornography, and criminal use of a communication facility. As a convicted sex offender, Guthier will be required to register as a Tier III offender under Megan’s Law for the rest of his life.
The investigation into Guthier began in October 2023 when a Warrington Township Police sergeant identified a computer sharing 71 child pornography files through peer-to-peer file sharing software. The computer’s IP address was traced back to Guthier. A search warrant executed at his home led to the seizure of electronic and storage devices. An analysis by the FBI’s Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory revealed nearly 2,500 files containing child sexual abuse material, including the 71 previously identified files.
In March 2024, Guthier was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents in South Padre Island, Texas, near the U.S.-Mexico border, before being extradited to Pennsylvania to face charges.
