Chargers’ Denzel Perryman Arrested for Illegal Firearms in LA

Linebacker held without bail after deputies find assault-style rifles

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested Saturday following a traffic stop where deputies discovered two illegal assault-style rifles in his vehicle.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies stopped Perryman around 9:30 p.m. Friday for vehicle code violations. During the stop, deputies found a total of five firearms inside his vehicle, including two assault-style rifles.

Perryman, 32, was taken into custody without bail and booked on weapons violation charges. He was cooperative throughout the arrest and is scheduled to appear in an Inglewood courtroom Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the Chargers stated they are aware of the situation and are gathering information.

Perryman, a Florida native and University of Miami alumnus, was drafted by the Chargers in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Over his 10-year NFL career, he has played for the Chargers, Raiders, and Houston Texans. He returned to the Chargers in 2024 and started in all 11 games he appeared in that season. Perryman has recorded 717 tackles, seven and a half sacks, and five interceptions during his professional career.
