The Chandigarh Police’s anti-narcotics task force (ANTF) successfully dismantled a heroin trafficking network operating across the tricity by arresting five individuals, including two women. The police seized 54.91 grams of heroin, five crank balls (methamphetamine), and Rs45,000 in drug money, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
The operation began on April 13 when officers apprehended Rajat, a resident of Dadumajra, carrying 15.36 grams of heroin and five crank balls. Following his interrogation, Sangeeta (45) from Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, was arrested with 21.90 grams of heroin.
Sangeeta’s disclosures led to the arrest of Ajay (28), a drug supplier from Ludhiana, who was found with 4.38 grams of heroin and Rs45,000 in cash.
Further investigation uncovered two more traffickers: Navneet Kaur (28) from Sector 70, Mohali, and Balkar Singh (42) from Fazilka. The police seized 35.17 grams of heroin from them.
Authorities revealed that Rajat procured drugs from Amritsar and Ferozepur, while Ajay sourced his supply from Ludhiana. Sangeeta assisted in distribution locally. Navneet sourced heroin from Jalalabad, Fazilka, and with Balkar’s help, distributed it across the tricity.
All five suspects have been remanded to police custody and are being investigated further.
