The Anti-Narcotics Cell has apprehended a drug smuggler, Iftikhar Ahmad (48), son of Abdul Ahmad and resident of Chandigarh, along with 1.106 kilograms of ‘charas’. The arrest was made following a tip-off about a suspected drug delivery near Suraj Cinema, Sector 1, Panchkula.
Led by ACP (Crime) Arvind Kamboj and Anti-Narcotics Cell incharge Praveen Kumar, the team intercepted Ahmad on Friday and recovered the contraband from his possession. The accused failed to provide any valid license or explanation for carrying the substance.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Ahmad procured the charas from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, and distributed it within the Panchkula region.
A case has been registered at the Sector 7 Police Station under Section 20(B)(II)(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
DCP Amit Dahiya stated, “We will interrogate the accused to uncover his contacts, accomplices, and the mastermind behind this drug trafficking network.”
