Jammu district police have arrested Chanchal Singh, a suspected drug peddler, during a targeted operation in Shastri Nagar, Jammu. The police recovered five grams of heroin and a vehicle registered HR26BD/2045 from his possession.
The operation, conducted on 10 January 2026, was led by PSI Aaqib Lateef, assisted by IC Hari Market GC Thappa and PSI Imran Hameed of Police Station City, Jammu. The accused was taken into custody immediately, and the contraband was seized following legal procedures.
Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the drug network’s forward and backward linkages. The operation was supervised by SP City North, SDPO City North, and SHO Inspector Shakti Devi, emphasizing Jammu Police’s zero-tolerance approach toward drug trafficking.
The police noted that funds generated by drug and hawala rackets in the region are often linked to sustaining terrorism in J&K. Authorities are also attaching properties of offenders under court orders and detaining individuals under the UAPA.
