DUNSMUIR, Calif. — Chad Robert Bribson, 53, of Dunsmuir, was arrested on multiple charges following an attempted burglary and a successful burglary at two homes in the area last week.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, March 6, just before 5 p.m. A homeowner reported seeing an elderly white man attempting to break a window to gain entry into her home. When deputies arrived at the scene moments later, the suspect had already fled.

After obtaining surveillance photos and videos from the homeowner, law enforcement tracked down a suspect matching the description, who was found sitting in the front seat of a parked vehicle. The suspect was identified as Bribson and placed under arrest.

Meanwhile, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) received a second call about a burglary on Mason Avenue. The homeowner returned to find that $4,000 worth of property had been stolen and the house had been ransacked. Deputies reviewed street camera footage, which showed Bribson entering the home through an unlocked side door. The stolen items were later found in a trashcan that Bribson had discarded them in.

Bribson now faces charges of vandalism and attempted burglary for the Dunsmuir Avenue incident, as well as burglary and grand theft for the Mason Avenue burglary. He was booked into the Siskiyou County Jail.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about the investigation to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (530) 841-2900.
