Chad Evertte Hunt Arrested on Drug Charges, Found with Fentanyl in Jail

Rutherford County, N.C. – Authorities with the Tri-City Violent Crimes Task Force have apprehended Chad Evertte Hunt, a suspect wanted on multiple drug-related charges. Hunt, who had 16 outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court, was arrested after being located by detectives on January 6 in the parking lot of a gas station on College Avenue.

Hunt was facing several serious felony charges, including:

Two counts of selling and/or delivering Schedule 2 controlled substances
Selling and/or delivering Schedule 2 controlled substances
Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances
Felony possession of cocaine
Trafficking opium or heroin
Trafficking cocaine
Possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule 2 controlled substances
Possession of a firearm by a felon
Robbery with a dangerous weapon
Failure to register as a sex offender
Habitual felon status
Following his arrest, Hunt was transported to the Rutherford County Detention Center, where officers discovered he was concealing 10 grams of fentanyl on his person. As a result, Hunt now faces additional charges, including trafficking opium or heroin and possession of a controlled substance in jail or prison.

Hunt is currently being held on a bond of $1.28 million, and a new trial date has been set.
