DANVILLE, Ill. — Chad Baker, 51, a former resident of Hoopeston, Illinois, has been sentenced to 11 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class X felony.

Following his prison term, Baker will serve 18 months of mandatory supervised release.

The case originated from a traffic stop on January 23, 2025, conducted by the Hoopeston Police Department. Baker, a passenger in the vehicle, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. A search revealed he was carrying approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine, over $300 in cash, a list of names, and a delivery schedule. The Illinois State Police Crime Lab confirmed the substance as methamphetamine.

State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy commended the Hoopeston Police Department for their role in apprehending Baker. “This sentence should send a message to the public that we will bring drug dealers to justice to protect the good people of Vermilion County,” Lacy said.
