ATMORE, Ala. – A Century man was arrested early Saturday morning after an Atmore Police Department (APD) officer pulled him over for failing to maintain his lane.
Traffic Stop and Arrest
The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. on Cowpen Creek Road. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Dennis Mathis, showed signs of impairment and was asked to perform field sobriety tests. When he was unable to complete them, officers placed him under arrest.
Drugs and Open Container Found
A search of Mathis’ vehicle led to the discovery of:
A small amount of marijuana
Drug paraphernalia
An open container of alcohol
Charges and Detainment
Mathis was charged with:
DUI
Possession of a controlled substance
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Open container violation
He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center following his arrest.
