LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — A Lynchburg man, identified as 35-year-old Cedric Reid, is facing a long list of charges after police responded to a report of domestic violence on Sunday, August 17.
According to the Lynchburg Police Department, officers arrived at a residence in the 1500 block of Longview Road, where Reid allegedly tried to run from police before being quickly detained.
During the encounter, officers said Reid discarded methamphetamine, cocaine, and a backpack. After obtaining a search warrant, police found additional quantities of marijuana and fentanyl inside the bag. Reid was also found with a large amount of cash at the time of his arrest.
Reid has been charged with multiple offenses, including:
Domestic Violence
Abduction
Strangulation
Preventing the Summoning of 911
Larceny
Possession with Intent to Distribute (PWID) Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and Marijuana
Possession of a Firearm by a Violent Convicted Felon
Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Police say additional charges for fentanyl possession are pending.
LPD Communications Manager John Hartzell noted this was the second firearm and narcotics recovery within the same apartment complex in the past month. He added that Reid is known as a long-time prolific offender who has been a source of ongoing issues in the community.
