PORTSMOUTH, Va. —
A Portsmouth man has been sentenced to ten years and ten months in prison for a 2022 armed carjacking, according to federal prosecutors.

Cedric Rashad Davis Jr., identified as a member of the “600” street gang, was convicted of carjacking and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

Court documents reveal that on July 10, 2022, Davis approached a victim, brandished a firearm, and demanded their car keys. The victim complied, and Davis fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

The following day, Davis posted Instagram videos showing himself driving the stolen car and holding a gun. Investigators later uncovered text messages on his phone suggesting that he tried to sell the stolen vehicle.

Davis was sentenced on Wednesday in federal court. The case is part of ongoing efforts to target violent gang activity and gun-related crimes in Virginia.
