SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — A 19-year-old Schenectady man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting on Van Vranken Avenue, authorities confirmed Sunday.
Schenectady police responded to the scene at approximately 3:24 p.m. on Wednesday, where they found 36-year-old Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Vasquez was rushed to Ellis Hospital but died shortly afterward, officials said.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute and are treating the case as a homicide. On Sunday, police announced the arrest of Cecil Toland, who now faces charges of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felony offenses.
The investigation remains ongoing.
