WETUMPKA, AL – Cecil Romanick, 44, of Wetumpka, was arrested on May 2 following an extensive investigation into multiple drug offenses dating back to November 2023.
Romanick faces a variety of serious charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of distribution of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Elmore County Jail with a bond set at $1,586,000.
According to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin, the trafficking charge stems from a state drug task force investigation. Romanick had been under surveillance after multiple controlled buys were conducted by undercover agents. In one instance, an informant arranged a buy where Romanick agreed to transport and deliver approximately one ounce of methamphetamine.
Court records reveal Romanick used Cash App for payment arrangements and made arrangements for the drug delivery to take place on U.S. Highway 231 in Wetumpka. Upon his arrest, law enforcement discovered a Ford Escape containing a bag with nearly 29 grams of methamphetamine, additional pills, and bags containing more meth.
Further investigation showed that Romanick had sold methamphetamine and imitation GHB in November 2023 and continued to distribute drugs in December 2023.
Romanick remains in jail, facing a lengthy legal battle and awaiting further proceedings.
