In a major crackdown on corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five individuals, including two officials from Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) and a CBI officer, following searches conducted in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. The agency also recovered a significant sum of Rs4 crore in cash during the operation.

The arrested NCL officials were identified as Subedar Ojha, the manager (secretariat), and private secretary to the NCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). On August 17, CBI officials raided Ojha’s residence and recovered a staggering Rs3.85 crore in cash. The remaining arrests included a CBI officer and two other individuals, all allegedly involved in the bribery and corruption network that facilitated the illegal flow of money.

The arrested individuals face charges related to bribery, corruption, and misuse of office. The CBI’s action comes after a detailed investigation into the illegal practices at NCL, which led to the discovery of significant sums being diverted through corrupt means.

The agency is continuing its investigation and is expected to uncover further details regarding the involvement of other individuals and possible corruption networks within government departments.
