MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – Riley County Police arrested Caziah Self, 23, of Ellsworth, in connection with a drug-overdose death in Manhattan. Self was taken into custody around noon Wednesday at the Riley County Law Enforcement Center located on S. Seth Child Road.

Self is being held on a $100,000 bond in the Riley County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including distribution of a controlled substance causing death, use of a communication facility in the commission of a felony drug violation, and distribution of opiates, opium, stimulants, and heroin.

The arrest is related to a drug overdose incident that occurred in June 2023, which resulted in the death of a 25-year-old individual in Manhattan. The investigation connected Self to the distribution of controlled substances that led to the fatal overdose.

This arrest follows a prior incident in June 2023 when Self was detained on charges related to an overdose that occurred in August 2022. In that case, he faced charges for distributing a controlled substance causing great bodily harm, aggravated battery, and using a communication facility for a drug transaction.

In addition to the overdose-related charges, Self was found in possession of firearms and a large quantity of pills suspected to contain fentanyl during his June 2023 arrest. This led to further charges, including drug possession with intent to distribute, drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon. His bond in that case was set at $500,000, bringing the total bond amount to $751,750.

Self was later sentenced to prison in April 2024 for multiple convictions, including drug distribution, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He had been confined at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility before being released for his court appearance in Riley County on Wednesday.
