Shreveport, LA – Over the weekend, Shreveport Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Village Square Apartments that uncovered shocking living conditions.
Officers arrived to find that the dispute was over a PlayStation. While investigating the altercation, police noticed the apartment was in an unsanitary and unsafe state, prompting Youth Services investigators to step in.
Inside the apartment, investigators found three children, ages 4, 3, and 1, living with their mother, Cavinitri White. The apartment was heavily infested with cockroaches—roaches were seen on nearly every surface, including furniture, kitchen cabinets, and inside the refrigerator. They were also crawling out of holes in the walls, making the environment hazardous and unlivable.
Due to the severe health and safety concerns, the Department of Children and Family Services was contacted. The children were removed from the home and placed in the custody of their father.
White was arrested on charges related to child neglect and unsafe living conditions. Further details on the charges and the case are pending.
