A Fayette County woman has been sentenced to between three and 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver.
Circuit Judge W.E. Sam Fox II imposed the sentence on Feb. 2, 2026, following the Dec. 1, 2025, guilty plea of Cassidy F. Raines, 32, of Beaver, West Virginia. As part of the sentence, Judge Fox referred Raines to the GOALS substance use disorder treatment program, which allows eligible defendants to seek early release upon successful completion.
The case originated on March 11, 2025, when an Oak Hill Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop after observing an improper turn. A drug-detection canine alerted to the presence of controlled substances inside the vehicle.
During a subsequent search, officers recovered drug paraphernalia, digital scales, and suspected controlled substances. Authorities said Raines admitted the drugs belonged to her and acknowledged she intended to sell them.
Laboratory analysis later confirmed the substances included approximately 8.5 grams of fentanyl and more than 13 grams of crack cocaine.
The Oak Hill Police Department investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Ethan Z. Brogan.
