VANDERBURGH CO., Ind. (WFIE) — A multi-hour manhunt involving drones and K9 units ended Wednesday with one arrest and a male suspect still at large, according to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies began their investigation around 3:50 p.m. in the 900 block of East Mount Pleasant Road after locating a vehicle that had been reported stolen on Saturday.
While investigating, officers spotted a man and woman walking nearby. Both fled on foot. The woman, later identified as 36-year-old Cassidy Gross, was quickly apprehended. Authorities said she initially gave deputies a false name and was found to have multiple active warrants.
Despite a search effort that lasted over three hours and included assistance from Evansville Police, the male suspect was not found. However, officials said he has been identified as a person of interest.
The man is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall, weighing 160 pounds, and covered in tattoos on his arms, back, and face. He was last seen wearing blue jean shorts, without a shirt or shoes.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
