SAN ANTONIO — A suspected home burglary call in San Antonio led to the arrest of two individuals and the discovery of a large drug and firearm stash after deputies found the caller was hallucinating under the influence.
On Friday, Bexar County deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 3000 block of Canyon Maple. The caller believed someone had broken into his home and might still be inside. Deputies instructed the individual to stay outside while they cleared the residence.
During the protective sweep, deputies found no intruders but instead uncovered a substantial quantity of illegal substances and weapons scattered throughout the home.
In an upstairs bedroom closet, deputies spotted several large packages suspected to contain marijuana. Additional items, including multiple THC vape cartridges in a common area, were later confirmed by field tests to contain THC.
A more thorough search revealed:
5 pounds of marijuana
Nearly 3 pounds of THC vape cartridges
2.9 ounces of Xanax
8 grams of cocaine
6 firearms, including a mix of pistols and rifles
The suspects, identified as Cassandra Torres (43) and Joshua Gonzales-Garza (34), were arrested and charged with multiple felony counts related to the possession of controlled substances and marijuana. Both are being held on $55,000 bond each.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and advise the public to report any suspicious activity while remaining cautious of potential drug-related risks.
