“Love Island USA” Star Cashel Barnett Charged with Felonies After Domestic Violence Incident
Cashel Barnett, a TV personality known for his appearances on Love Island USA and The Challenge: USA, was charged with multiple felonies following a domestic violence incident. The charges, filed on May 9, include aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child, both third-degree felonies. Barnett is also facing two misdemeanor assault charges.
The charges stem from an incident reported by a woman to the Salt Lake City Police Department on April 24. The victim told police that she was strangled by Barnett during an argument earlier that month. According to the victim, she attempted to calm Barnett down by hugging him, but he slapped her away. He allegedly followed her into the bedroom, picked her up by the neck, and threw her onto the bed. Barnett then allegedly continued to apply pressure to her neck, making it difficult for her to breathe and causing her vision to blur.
After the alleged assault, the victim reported experiencing several symptoms including neck pain, nausea, trouble swallowing, and memory loss. Medical professionals highlighted the dangers of strangulation, noting that victims can lose consciousness within seconds and are at a significantly higher risk of being killed by the same person later on.
Due to the severity of the charges and concerns for the victim’s safety, prosecutors requested that Barnett be held without bail. A judge issued a no-bail warrant for his arrest on May 12, though Barnett has not yet been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
This incident has shocked fans of Barnett, who gained recognition through his appearances on reality TV. The case remains under investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
