SAN MATEO, Calif. — An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon after San Mateo police discovered a machine gun and narcotics during a traffic stop.
According to the San Mateo Police Department, officers pulled over a vehicle near Delaware Street and 25th Avenue around 1:37 p.m. for illegal window tint and expired registration.
During the stop, officers noticed an open bottle of tequila and smelled marijuana coming from the car, prompting a probable cause search.
Inside the vehicle, police found a Glock pistol equipped with a multi-burst trigger, extended magazine, and one round in the chamber. Officers also recovered oxycodone pills, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and packaging materials commonly used for drug sales.
The driver, identified as Carron Patterson of Belmont, was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on multiple gun and drug charges.
