Carroll Co., Miss. — A 44-year-old man, Jonathan Shurrod Phillips, and a 16-year-old teen were arrested during a drug bust in Carroll County, Mississippi, following a six-month narcotics investigation.
Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Phillips’ home on County Road 27 Wednesday morning. Authorities identified Phillips as a major narcotics distributor in the Central Mississippi area.
During the search, law enforcement officers seized a significant amount of cash, methamphetamines, opiates, crack cocaine, and weapons.
Phillips was charged with trafficking opiates, trafficking crack cocaine, and trafficking methamphetamines. He was booked into the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility.
The 16-year-old, whose name has not been released, faces misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana and felony charges for possession of a fully automatic weapon. The sheriff’s office indicated that the teen will likely be charged as an adult.
The investigation is ongoing.
