Orlando Woman Arrested at Mar-a-Lago After Urgent Plea to Speak with Trump
A 49-year-old woman from Orlando, Caroline Shaw, was arrested after she approached the south gate of Mar-a-Lago on July 7, claiming she needed to deliver an “urgent message” to former President Donald Trump.
Shaw, driving a Mercedes van, parked near the resort’s entrance just before 10 p.m. and told U.S. Secret Service agents she needed to urgently speak with Trump. At the time, Trump was in Washington, D.C.
According to court records, Shaw informed agents there were guns inside her vehicle. Secret Service officers detained her and secured the van for further investigation. Authorities have not confirmed whether any firearms were discovered.
Shaw faces misdemeanor charges for driving with a suspended license and for having an unregistered vehicle. Records show her license was suspended in April 2023 due to unpaid traffic fines, and her vehicle registration had expired in December 2021.
She appeared in court on July 8 and entered a not-guilty plea. A judge ordered that she stay away from Donald Trump, Mar-a-Lago, and any of his properties. As of July 9, she remained in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail on $2,000 bond.
Additionally, the Palm Beach Police Department filed for a risk protection order, which would prohibit Shaw from possessing firearms or ammunition for at least one year.
