COTTAGE HILLS — A Cottage Hills man is facing multiple charges after allegedly headbutting and strangling a domestic battery victim, then destroying their phone to stop a 911 call.
Carmen I. Landreth, 50, was charged on June 13, 2025, with aggravated domestic battery (Class 2 felony), domestic battery, and interfering with the reporting of domestic battery (both Class A misdemeanors).
According to authorities, the incident occurred on June 12, 2025, when Landreth became enraged after learning the victim had sought an Order of Protection against him. He reportedly struck the victim in the eye with his forehead in a “headbutting” motion and then strangled her until she lost consciousness.
After regaining consciousness, the victim attempted to call 911, but Landreth allegedly smashed her phone. The victim fled to a nearby police station for help. Prosecutors noted that Landreth had also threatened to kill the victim if she pursued a protective order — which she ultimately obtained.
A petition to deny Landreth’s pretrial release was filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office. The case is being handled by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Landreth remains in custody at the Madison County Jail pending further court proceedings.
