CICERO, Ind. — Carlos Keith, a man wanted in connection with a Chicago murder, was arrested during a traffic stop along the Tipton-Hamilton County line on Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 2 p.m., deputies from the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a radio alert looking for a white Dodge Charger linked to Keith. The vehicle was last seen on U.S. 31 between Argos and Plymouth in Marshall County, north of Tipton County.
An Indiana State Police trooper later reported spotting the Charger on a traffic camera in Kokomo, heading south on Reed Road.
Tipton County deputies found Keith driving southbound on U.S. 31, exceeding the speed limit. Law enforcement coordinated with Hamilton County officers, who set up a perimeter near the intersection of U.S. 31 and 236th Street.
Deputies conducted a felony stop as Keith’s vehicle approached the intersection. He was taken into custody without incident. During the arrest, officers discovered 2.5 ounces of marijuana and $762 in the car.
Keith was booked into the Tipton County Jail on preliminary charges of possession and dealing marijuana.
Authorities have not disclosed when or if Keith will be extradited back to Chicago.
