PATERSON, N.J. — A Paterson resident and an Emerson man are facing multiple cocaine-related charges following a joint narcotics investigation led by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Narcotics and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Carlos Enrique Vanegas, 35, has been charged with seven offenses, including possession and distribution of cocaine, distribution within 1,000 feet of a public school, and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Authorities allege Vanegas worked alongside Gregory Thomas Delgado, 28, of Emerson, who was arrested in Paramus on Feb. 24, 2026. Delgado faces four related cocaine charges and was taken into custody without incident before being transferred to Passaic County authorities pending court proceedings.

Investigators conducted an undercover purchase of approximately one ounce of cocaine from Vanegas during the probe. Officials later confirmed that Vanegas was already confined at Bergen County Jail on unrelated charges at the time of the announcement.

Sheriff Thomas Adamo said the case highlights ongoing collaboration between local and federal agencies to disrupt narcotics distribution networks operating within the community.
