Carl Hunter, 42, from Tilehurst, Reading, has been sentenced to two years and five months in prison after pleading guilty to a series of crimes, including burglary, theft, and fraud. The offenses occurred during incidents in July 2024.
On July 27, Hunter broke into a shop on Bath Road, stealing items such as scratch cards. Two days later, on July 29, he targeted a store on Gatehampton Road, Goring, where he took an item without paying. That same day, Hunter broke into a house on Reading Road, stealing jewelry and a bank card. He then attempted to use the stolen card at a shop on West Street, Reading.
After a thorough investigation, Hunter was arrested on October 22 and charged the following day.
Detective Constable James Clancy of Thames Valley Police remarked, “These serious offenses have led to a well-deserved conviction and sentence. Hunter will now have time in prison to reflect on his unacceptable behavior, which Thames Valley Police will continue to combat.”
Hunter’s sentencing sends a strong message that such crimes will not be tolerated, and law enforcement will continue to hold offenders accountable for crimes that impact local communities.
