CARDIFF, WALES — Ebenezer Ankomah-Edjei, 34, was sentenced to 6 and a half years in prison after being found guilty of leading a Class A drug line operating between London and Cardiff. His associate, Elisha Kohnstamm, 27, was sentenced to a 2-year community order after pleading guilty to charges related to the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.

The investigation began in January 2024 when the Cardiff and Vale Organised Crime Team uncovered a drug line advertising to users in Cardiff. Further inquiries revealed links to London-based individuals, prompting a joint operation between South Wales Police and the Metropolitan Police Service. Ankomah-Edjei was identified as the leader of the operation, directing the preparation and sale of Class A drugs, including heroin and crack cocaine, in South Wales from London.

On June 5, 2024, a warrant was executed at Ankomah-Edjei’s Camden home, where he was discovered in bed holding 70 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin. Mobile devices found at the scene further revealed his key role in the operation, coordinating the distribution of drugs across both cities.

Kohnstamm, who acted as the runner in Cardiff, was arrested in Splott, Cardiff. She later pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine and was sentenced to a community order.

Ankomah-Edjei denied the charges, but after a trial at Cardiff Crown Court in February 2025, he was convicted of four charges related to the supply and possession of heroin and crack cocaine.

Detective Constable Bathan Williams of South Wales Police stated, “This case is just one example of our zero-tolerance approach to drug dealing. We are committed to targeting those involved in the supply of controlled substances, and the public’s help remains crucial to our success.”

The investigation highlights ongoing efforts to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks across the region, sending a strong message to criminals involved in similar activities.
