Canisteo Man Arrested on Theft and Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Alex J. Trevino faces charges of petit larceny and drug possession after being found with fentanyl

CANISTEO, N.Y. — Alex J. Trevino, a Canisteo man, was arrested on February 5, 2025, after being found in possession of stolen property and fentanyl during a traffic stop.

The arrest took place on West Main Street in Canisteo, following reports of Trevino allegedly stealing property. During the traffic stop, police discovered that Trevino was carrying fentanyl, leading to additional charges.

Trevino, 27, was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. After processing at the Canisteo Police Department, he was released on an appearance ticket to appear in court at a later date.
