SAGINAW COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – A student-athlete at Saginaw Valley State University is facing charges related to a series of retail thefts across Mid-Michigan.

Cameron Michaud, 24, a football player for the SVSU Cardinals and a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has been charged with organized retail crime and second-degree retail fraud, according to court records.

Police allege that Michaud stole merchandise from local stores, including Detroit Lions jerseys, and attempted to sell some of the stolen items on Facebook Marketplace. He was arrested Wednesday at the Ryder Center on SVSU’s campus.

Authorities have set Michaud’s bond at $2,500 cash surety. The university has not released further details regarding disciplinary action or his status on the football team.
