Cameron Bradford Held in Germany for Cannabis Smuggling

UK Mum, 21, Arrested at Munich Airport After Thailand Trip

MUNICH, GERMANY — A 21-year-old British woman, Cameron Bradford, has been arrested in Germany after allegedly attempting to smuggle cannabis into the country from Thailand.

The young mother from Knebworth, Hertfordshire, was detained at Munich Airport on April 21 as she collected her luggage. Her unexpected arrival in Munich—after initially being booked to return to London Heathrow via Singapore—raised suspicions among German authorities.

According to sources, Cameron had recently traveled alone to Thailand and posted holiday photos on social media shortly before her arrest. When she failed to arrive on her scheduled flight to the UK, her family reported her missing. They were informed of her detention in Germany the following day.

Chief Prosecutor Anne Leiding, speaking on behalf of the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed an investigation is ongoing. “The defendant is still in custody,” she said, but declined to discuss charges or a potential trial date.

Bradford may face a minimum of four months in detention while investigators determine the origin of the drugs. Despite Germany’s 2024 cannabis law reforms, importing cannabis—even small amounts—remains strictly illegal, especially for non-residents like tourists. Violations can carry up to five years in prison.

A Foreign Office spokesperson stated: “We are supporting a British woman who is detained in Germany and are in contact with her family and local authorities.”

This case is part of a growing trend involving UK nationals attempting to smuggle drugs from Thailand into Europe. Just last month, a British couple was arrested at Valencia Airport in Spain after arriving from Thailand with 33kg of cannabis and no personal items in their luggage. They remain in custody, awaiting potential indictment.

The investigation into Cameron Bradford’s case remains active, with German prosecutors expected to make further announcements in the coming months.
