Cameron Ballentine, 17, Fatally Shot in Shreveport

Teen killed in MLK neighborhood marks 25th homicide

SHREVEPORT, La. – A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in the early hours of August 31 in Shreveport’s Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood, authorities confirmed.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Cameron Ballentine, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the 3300 block of Bond Drive, near Roy Road and Downing Street.

Emergency responders transported Ballentine to a local hospital, but he was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m.

His death marks the 25th confirmed homicide in Shreveport in 2025, highlighting ongoing concerns about youth violence and gun crime in the area.

The Shreveport Police Department is continuing its investigation. No suspects have been named at this time.
