Callun Harris Arrested After Taunting Police on Facebook

Cheltenham man joked about his mugshot before being taken into custody

A wanted man from Cheltenham has been arrested after mocking the photo Gloucestershire Constabulary used in their public appeal to locate him.

Callun Harris, 22, was being sought on suspicion of theft, criminal damage, and other alleged offences. Shortly after police posted his custody photo to Facebook in a “wanted” alert, Harris chimed in with a sarcastic comment: “Done me nasty, could have used a better photo lol.”

The police were quick to respond, replying: “We can take a new one if you come and visit our custody suite.” Harris cheekily replied, “maybe next time.”

That “next time” came sooner than expected. In a June 16 update, Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed Harris had been arrested and taken into custody.

“Thanks to all who shared the appeal and to anyone who called in with information on his whereabouts,” a police spokesperson said. “We can also confirm that he’s had a new picture taken.”

The unusual social media exchange quickly gained attention, drawing both amusement and praise for the Constabulary’s lighthearted but effective approach.
