California Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) — A drug trafficking bust at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old California man.

Christian Machado, of Fresno, California, is accused of trafficking marijuana as part of a narcotics operation intercepted at the airport. According to Birmingham Police, an arrest warrant was secured for Machado following the discovery of illegal substances during the investigation.

Authorities confirmed that Machado is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail in connection with the case.

The Birmingham Police Department has not yet released further details about the operation or whether more arrests are expected.
