Two people were killed early Saturday morning in the Woodlake community of Moore County, North Carolina, and authorities are actively searching for a suspect believed to have fled the area.
Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on the 700 block of Daphne Lane, a gated residential community near Vass, after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies confirmed two adults, ages 28 and 21, were deceased inside the residence.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators have identified 25-year-old Caleb Hayden Fosnaugh of Ohio as a suspect. Warrants have been obtained for his arrest for breaking and entering and two counts of murder. Authorities believe Fosnaugh did not remain in Moore County following the incident.
Fosnaugh is considered armed and dangerous and may be driving a white 2018 Ford Mustang with a black front driver-side fender, potentially displaying an Ohio license plate. Residents are strongly advised not to approach him. Anyone with information or who spots Fosnaugh or the vehicle should call 911 or the Moore County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 910-947-4444.
Sheriff Ronnie Fields expressed condolences to the victims’ families and praised the coordination between law enforcement agencies, including the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for their assistance.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities plan to release additional details as they become available.
