STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A 23-year-old man from New York, identified as Caiteng Li, is facing 67 criminal charges after allegedly using a stolen credit card to make fraudulent purchases at multiple Wawa convenience stores in Stafford County, authorities said.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on Sunday, August 24 to a report of credit card fraud. The victim, located in California, reported that his credit card had been used 11 times at the Wawa on Garrisonville Road in Stafford.
Investigation and Arrest
Deputies obtained surveillance footage from the store, which showed a man making repeated purchases before leaving in a black Nissan. After checking other Wawa locations in the area, deputies found the same vehicle parked behind another Wawa and arrested the suspect.
Li was found to be driving without a valid license and was in possession of a suspected controlled substance, officials said.
Charges Filed
Li is now facing the following 67 charges:
13 counts of credit card theft
13 counts of credit card fraud
13 counts of fraudulently receiving goods
13 counts of identity theft with intent to defraud
13 counts of obtaining money by false pretenses
1 count of possession of controlled substances
1 count of driving without a license
He was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.
Authorities have not released information on how Li obtained the victim’s credit card or whether additional victims are involved.
