In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Cachar Police in Assam seized 388 grams of heroin worth approximately Rs2.20 crore and arrested three youths connected to the case.
The seizure occurred during a late-night operation on Tuesday, December 16, when police intercepted a vehicle entering Cachar from a neighbouring state. Acting on specific intelligence, officers thoroughly searched the car and discovered the contraband concealed inside 30 soap cases hidden in different compartments, including a specially designed secret chamber.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Dildar Hussain (25)
Nazrul Hussein (20)
Jasim Uddin (25)
All three are residents of Bhanga Bazar under Dholai police station. Preliminary investigations indicate the heroin consignment was being transported to Guwahati.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Partha Protim Das, confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. He stated, “This operation is part of our sustained drive against drug trafficking in the region. We are committed to tracing the entire supply chain and taking stringent action against those involved.”
This operation follows another major bust just a day earlier, when a truck intercepted at Rongpur led to the recovery of 90,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs26 crore. In that case, Dalim Uddin Laskar and Abed Sultan Barbhuiya were arrested.
Authorities continue to investigate both incidents to dismantle the larger drug trafficking network operating across Assam.
