Cachar police seized heroin valued at approximately Rs 41.5 lakh and arrested three youths from Darrang district in a crackdown in Lakhipur area.
Acting on a tip-off on Sunday evening, police intercepted a passenger auto-rickshaw in Lakhipur. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found 83 grams of heroin in possession of three men posing as passengers.
The accused have been identified as Ubir Ali, Razak Ali, and Moiz Ali, all residents of Darrang district. Police sources stated that the seized narcotics could have fetched over Rs 41 lakh in the illegal market.
Authorities are currently investigating to trace the origin of the heroin consignment and identify other members involved in the drug trafficking network.
